There are different types of wrinkles, each formed in its own way. However, it is quite easy to find out about them all. Lion wrinkles, nasolabial fold, chest wrinkles are the names given to facial wrinkles which simply depends on where they are found, with a few exceptions.
Dynamic wrinkles appear from the repeated muscular contractions of the face. Every day, the facial features indeed submit to thousands of contractions. Under the skin, about forty little muscles are endlessly contracting and relaxing to let us smile, or show surprise, or express displeasure. It is thanks to these contractions, therefore that the face is expressive. We call these wrinkles “expression wrinkles”.
Expression wrinkles are:
- Horizontal wrinkles on the forehead
- The ‘lion’ wrinkle, between the eyebrows
- Crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eye
Static wrinkles are due to the general relaxation of the skin’s tissues and of gravity. This process is accentuated by external factors like the sun, for example.
